This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are bright, creative, and eager to learn. They bring unique perspectives and talents to our classroom, and I want to ensure they have the tools to express themselves in meaningful ways. Poetry is a powerful form of self-expression, and this project will provide them with the resources they need to engage with it fully.

The materials I’m requesting—sensory-friendly writing tools, adapted poetry books, and hands-on learning supports—will make poetry accessible for all learners.

The materials will help students who benefit from kinesthetic learning and assist those who struggle with writing. Visual poetry templates and illustrated anthologies will support students who process information better.

My goal for this project is to create an inclusive, calming and engaging poetry experience where every student feels empowered to explore language and self-expression. I want my students to see themselves as poets, regardless of their learning style or ability level. By incorporating multi-sensory and differentiated resources, I aim to help them develop literacy skills, foster creativity, and build self-confidence.

What makes my students special is their determination, resilience, and enthusiasm for learning. They deserve a classroom environment that celebrates their strengths and supports their challenges. With your help, we can make poetry an inspiring and accessible journey for every student.
