Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are bright, curious, and full of potential but they face unique challenges that can make writing a frustrating and discouraging experience. As a special education teacher at a Title One school, I work with students who have significant learning differences, fine motor delays, and communication needs. Despite these obstacles, they are eager to share their thoughts, ideas, and creativity with the world.
All students deserve a chance to communicate to the world through writing.
To help them succeed, I am requesting adapted writing resources designed specifically for students with disabilities. These include tools like slant boards, pencil grips, tactile letters, stamps, and more. These resources will remove barriers and make writing a more accessible, engaging, and confidence-building process for every child in my classroom.
When students don’t have the tools they need, they can quickly fall behind and the gap only grows over time. Adapted materials can make a life-changing difference by giving students the means to express themselves and build literacy skills critical to long-term success.
With your support, my students will be able to write with greater independence and confidence. You’ll be helping children who are often overlooked, discover their voice and tell their stories, maybe for the very first time.
