Empowering, Engaging, and Motivating Second Language Learners Through Games
Help me give my students opportunities to learn through games to increase their participation, foster social and emotional learning, enhance their fine motor skills, and motivate them to take risks.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My goal is to build a classroom that is rich in conversation, collaboration, and community. My students will learn more than just the language of the lesson when playing a game, they may learn instructional language through discussion or rules and sometimes negotiation skills and a lesson in cultural differences too! They can form a greater variety of emotional connections with language through playing games. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are engaged in games and hands-on activities.
