Empowering Dreamers: Build a Space of Hope, Healing, and Creativity

Help me give my students a MacBook Pro, Cricut, rug, and card stock—transforming my classroom into a safe, creative space where young African American students feel seen, empowered, and inspired to dream big.

My Project

A classroom where every child feels seen. A space where young African American students from under-resourced neighborhoods walk in and know they matter—not just because someone told them, but because the room reflects their identity, their creativity, and their potential. This is the classroom I strive to build every day. But I need your help.

I’m seeking support for four critical tools that will bring this vision to life: a MacBook Pro, a Cricut machine, a rug, and card stock paper.

These aren’t just supplies—they’re vehicles for empowerment, equity, and expression.

A MacBook Pro

Many of my students don’t have computers or internet access at home. A MacBook Pro will allow me to design culturally responsive lessons that are interactive, engaging, and reflective of their lived experiences. With this device, I can:

• Create multimedia lessons that include Black authors, leaders, and history

• Build digital portfolios to celebrate student progress

• Communicate with families and support remote learning if needed

• Access advanced educational tools not available on older devices

For my students, this means access to the same caliber of education their peers in wealthier districts receive—closing the digital gap and opening doors.

A Cricut Machine: Celebrating Identity Through Creation

Representation matters—especially for children who rarely see their names or cultures celebrated in learning materials. A Cricut machine will allow me to personalize everything from name tags to classroom décor, making each child feel special.

More importantly, students will use the Cricut themselves to:

• Create art, books, and vision boards

• Design projects for Black History Month and cultural celebrations

• Express their dreams in tangible, creative ways

Card Stock Paper: Supporting Pride in Learning

With it, we:

• Publish student-written books and poetry

• Make sturdy certificates

• Create affirmations and artwork that last all year
