My Project
At NSES in Anchorage, Alaska, we are excited to launch a project that brings the engaging game of 9 Square in the Air to our students. We have a diverse population from preschool to 5th grade and nearly all of our students qualify for Title I services. Many of our students lack access to sports outside of school. Volleyball is a beloved activity here, and introducing 9 Square in the Air will not only enhance their skills but also foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and communication among peers.
The primary goal of this project is to create an inclusive environment where all students, including those in our three structured learning classrooms for students with autism, can participate and be successful.
The game promotes physical activity, social interaction, and strategic thinking, making it a perfect fit for our diverse learning community. By using 9 Square in the Air, we aim to cultivate essential life skills such as cooperation, respect, and resilience.
Our students are special because they come from varied backgrounds and bring unique perspectives to our school culture. Many face challenges that limit their opportunities for sports and social engagement, but with this project, we can bridge that gap. 9 Square in the Air will not only provide them with a fun and engaging way to develop their volleyball skills but also create a sense of belonging and community. With your help, we can empower our students for success both on and off the court!
