Help me give my students engaging tools and an organized space to support small group reading. These materials will help create a focused literacy area where students can grow as readers, build confidence, and enjoy learning.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Small group reading is one of the most important parts of our day in kindergarten. It’s when I get to work closely with my students, meet them at their level, and support their growth as confident, independent readers.
This project will help create an inviting and organized small group area that supports focused literacy learning.
The folders and rolling cart will help manage student materials and keep everything ready for quick transitions and smooth routines. Having a neat and accessible space makes it easier to focus on what matters, reading together.
The headset included in this project will allow for individualized literacy activities like listening to read-alouds, practicing phonics, and following along with digital stories. This helps students build listening comprehension and language skills, especially for early or struggling readers.
The blue light glasses are a thoughtful touch to help protect student eyes during tech use while maintaining focus during independent reading activities.
One of the most exciting parts of this project is the instant camera and photo materials. I plan to use these to celebrate reading milestones—like finishing a book, learning sight words, or reading aloud for the first time. We will create a “Look What I Can Read!” wall to help students feel proud of their progress.
