My Project
Hello!
I am a “Deaf/Special Ed” teacher seeking funding to provide new tablets for elementary-aged students who are deaf and have autism at EES in the Rio Grande Valley.
These tablets will be equipped with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) apps to enhance communication abilities, facilitate learning, and improve the quality of life for these students.
Students who are deaf and have autism face significant challenges in communication, which is fundamental to their educational and social development. Traditional communication methods are often insufficient. AAC technology has proven to be an effective tool for such students, enabling them to express their needs, participate in classroom activities, and interact with peers and teachers. However, our current resources are outdated and insufficient to meet the growing needs of our students. Please help me give my students the tools they need to grow their communication skills and feel confident in their voice.
We are also needing some tangible items such as magnetic blocks that my students enjoy to help them engage in various activities.
