My Project
Attending the virtual 200-hour yoga teacher training with Breathe for Change presents an unparalleled opportunity for my professional growth. Through this immersive program, I will deepen my understanding of social-emotional learning (SEL) and trauma-informed practices, enriching my toolkit as a special education teacher. By integrating yoga and mindfulness techniques into my pedagogical approach, I aim to create a more inclusive and supportive classroom environment where all students feel valued and empowered to succeed.
Upon completion of the training, I will apply the principles of SEL and yoga directly in the classroom, fostering emotional regulation, resilience, and empathy among my students.
For students with disabilities, including those with sensory processing disorders or ADHD, these practices can provide invaluable tools for self-regulation and stress management. Additionally, for student-athletes who may face heightened pressure and anxiety, incorporating yoga can offer a holistic approach to mental and physical well-being, enhancing their overall performance both on and off the field.
Furthermore, the benefits extend beyond individual students to the school community at large. By promoting SEL and yoga practices, we cultivate a culture of compassion, understanding, and inclusivity. This not only enhances academic outcomes but also fosters a sense of belonging and connection among students, staff, and families. Ultimately, by investing in my professional development in this transformative way, we create ripple effects of positive change that uplift and empower our entire school community to thrive.
