Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students enjoy our current subscription to Scholastic Upfront magazine. All students, including our newcomers and students with disabilities, are able to read professionally written and engaging articles filled with photographs and infographics. All students are hungry for engaging printed material. Upfront also does an excellent job teaching students about current economics with articles on what $100 is worth in different states, the real costs of cell phones, bitcoin, and what typical teens buy. Scholastic Upfront explains the economic impact of current events. Scholastic Upfront also includes articles that actually make it interesting to read about the First Amendment, the Great Depression, and climate issues. The great graphs, photographs and diagrams make social studies and current events accessible to ALL of our students!

With its financial issues, visual graphics, and engaging current events and history topics, Scholastic Upfront sets our students up for an empowered win!

A subscription to magazines would be used by several classes since it would be centrally distributed through the library. A subscription would support news literacy, social studies, financial and economic literacy, and even scientific an climate literacy. This is a magazine that is an investment in our students across the learning spectrum.
