My Project

My students are curious, hands-on learners who love to explore how things work. They thrive when learning is interactive, creative, and connected to real-world skills. I teach middle school computer science in a rural, economically disadvantaged area in Mississippi. Many of my students do not have access to technology tools outside of school, so it’s my mission to make our classroom a place where they can dream big and build tech skills that will prepare them for the future.

We need Micro:bit kits to bring our coding lessons to life!

With these devices, students will learn to program using block coding and JavaScript while creating real, physical projects—like step counters, mood meters, games, or even mini smart homes.

The Micro:bits are small programmable computers that are perfect for middle schoolers. They help students see how code interacts with hardware in a fun, hands-on way. This project will support our unit on physical computing, problem-solving, and design thinking, all while aligning with state computer science standards.

These tools will light a fire in my students' imaginations and help them see themselves as future engineers, inventors, and programmers.

The items we need are as follows: 10–20 Micro:bit Starter Kits (each includes a Micro:bit, USB cable, battery holder, and batteries).
