My Project

I am thrilled to share with you my vision to reach both general education students and special education students through establishing a calming corner. What I love most about our students is their resilience, creativity, and boundless potential. Each day, they inspire me with their curiosity and enthusiasm for learning; however, I recognize that they also face challenges that can impact their ability to focus and engage in the classroom. Sometimes they need a quick break to reset. Our students have diverse needs and exceptionalities that include sensory needs and time to self-regulate.

My goals for this project are twofold: first, to create a nurturing environment where students feel empowered to overcome obstacles and thrive academically, and second, to equip them with essential life skills such as self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience.

The specific items that are being requested, such as noise-canceling headphones, comfortable seating, a breathing tool, soft lighting, and calming visuals, are carefully chosen to address the diverse needs of our students. These resources will serve as invaluable tools for promoting self-regulation, reducing anxiety, and fostering a sense of safety and belonging. Together, we can provide a nurturing space to develop crucial self-regulation skills and cultivate emotional resilience.

By supporting my project to establish a calming corner in my office, you will play a vital role in helping our students reach their full potential. Your generosity will make a meaningful difference in their lives and contribute to building a more compassionate and inclusive school community.
