My Project
Welcome to Empower Play, a transformative project dedicated to providing underprivileged students in Lawrence, Massachusetts, with the opportunity to embrace sports and exercise. Our mission is to break down barriers and offer these young individuals access to sports equipment, fostering healthier habits and nurturing vital social and emotional skills.
Our students have a genuine love for sports and physical activity, but unfortunately, they face significant challenges due to limited resources and experiences.
Many of them have never had access to proper sports equipment or the chance to participate in organized sports and clubs, hindering their overall growth and development.
Our school faces one of the highest obesity rates in the United States, and we believe that early exposure to sports and exercise can lead to a lifetime of physical well-being. By engaging in various sports, our students will not only experience the joy of movement but also learn important life skills like teamwork, discipline, and perseverance.
Moreover, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on their social and emotional development. The lack of resources to play organized sports and interact with their peers has hindered their growth. Through Empower Play, we seek to create a safe and inclusive environment where they can rebuild connections, develop social skills, and regain confidence.
