Help me give my students an environment where individuals facing various challenges can thrive. Through personalized occupational therapy sessions, we promote independence & foster meaningful participation. By enhancing our OT room it ensures it remains supportive and effective.
At my school, we believe in the power of occupational therapy to transform lives. Our OT room serves as a crucial space where students, kindergarten through sixth grade can develop, regain, or maintain the skills needed to live life to the fullest. As this school houses the autism program for our district, it is crucial that our OT room remains up to date with sensory friendly spaces with innovative therapeutic tools.
Music based interventions have been shown as beneficial in improving social, emotional, and behavioral problems in students with ASD (autism spectrum disorder).
Additionally, sensory toys can have been shown as appealing as they can help the child remain calm and provide a desired sensory experience. Providing a positive OT experience by means of focusing on meeting children's diverse needs while also increasing their access to curriculum is a necessary component of school based occupational therapy.
