Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are really motivated to work hard and try their best this year! I want to give them the opportunity to have all of the tools they need. I have twenty four students and they love listening to books read aloud and participating in small group learning situations. We try to break apart into small groups whenever we have the chance.

They love learning and I know they will put these supplies to good use!

My Project

I am requesting picture books that feature a multicultural experience and stories about African American leaders to expand the diversity of our classroom library. I would also like to have more books to read during our "read-aloud" time that feature African American characters. This will help our kids see themselves in literature and help them make connections about African American history. I also need whiteboard markers to use during our math block and guided reading block so that the kids can each have one to go with their individual whiteboards.
