This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a special education teacher and girls basketball coach at a public 6th-12th magnet school in Northeast Los Angeles that has a focus on the arts and sciences. I coach 25 high school girls who have a passion for learning and improving their basketball skills each day that they step on the court. My players are committed to basketball while also staying on top of their school work.

Passionate, hardworking, an motivated; my student athletes bring their best to the classroom and the court each and every day.

My players are strong female role models who are looking to make a difference on campus.

My Project

The basketballs, goggles, and reversible jerseys will allow my girls to have what they need in order to practice and be ready for game day. We work hard every day in the gym so that we can reach our goal of being a successful, well-rounded team.

Working together as a team and lifting each other up is what my girls are all about.

This support will be appreciated every day and will not be taken for granted. While we do not have much, we make the most with what we do have and we work from there. I want my players to reach their highest potential and realize that anything is possible with hard work and the right support.
