it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 5th-grade ELA students are eager readers who love diving into stories that inspire and challenge their thinking. I want to provide them with the opportunity to explore the powerful themes of perseverance, family, and social justice through a class set of Esperanza Rising by Pam Muñoz Ryan.
This award-winning novel tells the moving story of a young girl’s journey from privilege to hardship during the Great Depression.
It offers my students a rich opportunity to learn about historical events, cultural resilience, and the strength of the human spirit. Reading this book together will promote meaningful discussions, critical thinking, and empathy for others' experiences.
With your support, each student will have their own copy to annotate and engage deeply with the text. This project will enrich their understanding of literature while fostering an appreciation for diverse stories and voices.
