My Students

We start the day with greeting each of them with a good morning and a line to make them smile. After extending morning greeting, we read over the morning board work, then review the word of the week. I want to create a community in my class. A well-rounded program guides them to academic success.

My students are a melting pot of cultures.

What's even more beautiful is that they are accepting and thirsty for opportunity to learn more everyday. They have a healthy appetite for friendly competition while being able to offer a helping hand for anyone that needs it. One of my incredible students noticed that four of her classmates were struggling to understand the math lesson for the day. Not only did she guide her classmates to clarity, they felt confident in their skill to pay it forward. They look out for each other in the yard and in the classroom. Especially with our students who needs a little more help. They don't make them feel insecure, but empowered. We promote mistakes as learning opportunities and offer chances to grow. They take responsibility for their actions; they are honest. They believe in hard work and team work, which is a direct reflection of school and the environment we work hard at creating.

My Project

Since my brilliant students have such a thirst for experiencing the world, I would introduce that through art projects. My students love to explore their creativity through their words. I would love to transfer that same power into creating art. Even though they are fifth graders, they like the idea of working in a group like setting and having driven discussion about the assignment. The book. "Wonder" sparks that discussion. Whiteboards make learning more intimate for both teacher and student. I like giving my students PE time because they are athletes and competitive. There is just not equipment that belongs to the school. I want to be able to give then play time with equipment that belongs to them.

This donation would help me push a more hands-on, tangible program for my students.

I hope to show them that learning is fun, entertaining and captivating. My goal is to make sure that everyone of my students feel a part of the team, that they know they are not invisible. One of the way I can make sure of that is working on a group level with my students and engaging with them.
