Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach 1st-grade students in the community. Many of my students come from low socioeconomic homes. Many of my students’ parents are hard-working farm migrant workers. The majority of the students in the district qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Many of my students are dealing with some kind of loss and are struggling to regulate their emotions.
The use of hands-on tools will greatly enhance my students' Social-Emotional Learning. Thus, also enhancing their academic learning. All of Emotion Plush Toys, books, and other tools will be placed in our classroom calming corner to help students choose activities that will support them with self-regulation.
