The use of hands-on manipulatives will greatly enhance my students learning. Most of my students have never stepped foot into a classroom. This is their first year in a regular classroom. They have been through distance learning for at least one school year and were not provided with hands-on manipulatives to acquire counting skills. The need for hands-on manipulatives with storage bins is even more vital this year to fill in my students' learning loss due to distance learning. This year we are incorporating the Counting Collections strategies. I plan to use the items to provide my students with multiple opportunities to enhance their counting skills. My students will enjoy using the items as they count by 1s, 2s, 5s, and 10s. As my students count, they will also incorporate ELL strategies, since they will be collaborating with other students.
