Help me give my students an area in our classroom that can be used to calm themselves when their feelings get a little too big, with a rug, books, plush toys, and more.
The items in this project will be used to create a calming corner in my Kindergarten classroom. I plan to create a space within my classroom that is used for my kindergarteners to reset themselves when feeling out of control emotionally.
In this area, there will be tools to help the student return to an emotional state conducive to learning.
There will be a chart that gives a visual of each emotion they may be experiencing. It will also have a booklet with ideas on how students can help reset themselves.
I plan to have a basket with items like bubble timers, pinwheel spinners, and other tools for students to use in the corner. I have also included some mentor texts in this project to use when teaching students how and when to use the calming corner.
