My Students

My students are working each and every day through this difficult, challenging time of distance learning, Covid19, and niw Winter Freeze in Texas. This is a time where social emotional development is so important and they are also dealing with stress. Playing board games and outside games have proven to be mood regulators and support self confidence. It can reduce aggressive behavior and cause calming effects.

They are a very large, diverse group of students that are learning from home for various reasons to not be exposed to COVID-19, homeless, or emotional disorders.

They are children who need to express their emotions and be able to learn positive healthy ways to deal with stress.

I want to do everything possible to make them happy, productive children who have every opportunity life can provide

My Project

I want to help my students explore their emotions and reduce stress by playing games! Scrabble, Words with Friends, and even scavenger hunts can reduce stress and be a mood regulator. Students doing Scavenger Hunts can build their social skills and confidence while gaining knowledge of the world outside and the positive effects of not having to sit and stare at a computer screen. It will help them to be less aggressive after sitting behind a computer for hours.They need simple, fun games that can help them learn to cope with feelings, set goals, and get along with others. What greater time to do this when with their families isolated away from others. By playing these games they can learn how to wait their turn and parents can even monitor their child's ability to stay calm and make decisions. Families need fun and the ability to live differently but still stay safe mentally. The fidget toys and Play dough give them something to help relieve anxiety.
