Can you imagine hearing your teacher read a story, well wouldn't be great for them to hear it read by someone else? Help encourage young children to read. A listening center is a wonderful tool for beginning readers to use to not only see the words but to hear what is being read to them.
Welcome to my kindergarten classroom.
My students are very energetic and eager to learn. I teach in a full day kindergarten, public school setting in Maryland. These children surprise you because they are so motivated to learn new things. They are intelligent, fun and hardworking.
My Project
We need a listening center with a CD and cassette player, phonics read alongs and books on CD to use during workshop as a quiet and enrichment activity. Many children do not have books of their own at home, or have someone that will actually read with them. Having a listening center, will give them a quiet space to not only read, but to listen to books as well. Using this center will help with beginning reading skills.
You can help make this happen!
Imagine a student enhancing their learning experience through reading. They feel a tremendous amount of pride inside, because of your gift. In turn, this pride is reflected throughout our school and community.
