This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class is composed of 55 fifth-graders in a general education class, with students with IEP and ELL learners and special education students, who may have autism.

A typical day in my classroom looks active.

My students are engaged in learning activities that get them moving, talking to their peers, and asking great questions. You will not see a lot of worksheets in my classroom. My students are learning through hands-on experiences.

I teach in a Title I school.

My fifth-grade students come from very diverse families. I am excited to share that my school is a genuinely diverse community. Not only do students come from varying ethnic backgrounds and places, but the life experiences that they’ve had are incredibly unique. My scholars are creative, thoughtful, and full of excitement!

My students are 9 and 10-year children that love coming to school. When school was closed in the spring of 2020, due to the pandemic, not only were the kids wanting to come back, but we missed seeing their smiling faces every day.

My Project

Oh my, what a dream it will be if we can have this project funded for our classroom to support our school, community, and parents. In September ALL students are expected to come back to in-person instruction. Students who have not stepped in for in-person learning for more than one year will be expected to come into school to learn. I want to make this experience memorable for both parents and students.

Oh my I am very excited to return back to school and see my students' beautiful faces.

I am excited and worried at the expenses parents have to bear in getting materials for their child. I have students that live in poverty, shelters, and have parents that are unemployed. With your help I will be able to get book bags, notebooks, pencils, erasers, crayons, colored pencils, water bottles and many more materials that can help alleviate the cost of school expenses. I would like to obtain the materials so students' families don't have to stress about spending money they don't have.

What a wonderful plan it will be to enter a classroom where students are having enrichment conversations, asking questions, facilitating discussions, and especially having fun! This is something I advocate in my classroom. This is my goal supporting, Engaging Students in Learning, teachers need to provide engaging opportunities, promote teamwork, use engaging materials, and give students time to reflect on learning.
