Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in a poverty-stricken, urban neighborhood. Many come from broken and unstable homes. They attend a Title I school and are eligible for free lunch.
Our school's population is made up of African-American, Hispanic, and Kurdish students.
Many of them are learning English as a second language. It is important for them to be able to express themselves through their art. My students love art! They thrive in an artistic environment. They need opportunities to show how creative they can be.
My Project
My students desperately need white school glue to start the school year. We use glue on a daily basis to make collages, mixed media art projects, and 3-D reliefs and sculptures. My kindergarten students need to practice gluing to develop fine motor skills used for everyday tasks.
Without white glue, I cannot run a successful art program.
My art budget has been cut in half for the past several years. Without the help of generous donors, we cannot afford even the most basic supplies. Please help me to get my students the supplies we need for a successful art program.
