This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As I'm about to enter my 8th year working in education, 4th year in a high school, I think about what are some of the things that my students often need to have a successful day. Something I've learned is that students often need little things to help them move forward with their day. For example, losing a hair tie and not knowing where to get a new one or needing a band-aid and then walking around looking for a solution. These are minor incidents that could happen in school (and sometimes quickly resolved), but what if it's needed outside of school?

We have an amazing Wellness Center that often provides hygiene kits to our students, but I still have students checking in with me to see if I have any hygiene supplies.

Hygiene is super important to teens, that of course it's important to have different spots in a school where students could be comfortable enough to ask for items needed. So I thought about what I get often asked about and try to supply those things. I'm almost certain that I will have to buy more things 3 months down the road, but this would be a great help/start!
