This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Elementary-aged students are prone to accidents. Whether it is a bathroom accident, an unexpected bloody nose, or an overturned lunch tray, students will end up wearing clothes that are unsuitable and/or unsanitary.

When students have any kind of accident that renders their clothing unsanitary or unfit for the classroom, they are sent to the nurse's office for clean-up and a change of clothes- which we have very little of.

Ideally, we would provide students with a change of clothes quickly so that they are able to return to class and continue learning. If clothing is unavailable, students' guardians are called and asked to bring a change of clothes to the school.

Some students don't have reliable transportation, some have adults who are unsure of the compulsory school requirements in the United States, and some students have adults who don't work a typical 9-5 job and getting to the school is a challenge.

We want to give our students every opportunity to grow and succeed, however, we cannot provide those opportunities if students are not in class. If we had a fully stocked closet available for our students, the students would come to the clinic, quickly clean up, change, and return to class with minimal learning time lost.
