Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Math isn't always obvious in art, but it can be used to create patterns, symmetry, and balance. Math is important in art because it helps the artist make the artwork more visually appealing. Using specific ratios can also help create a more realistic image. When creating, artists start with a small sketch to put all of their ideas together. Once they are satisfied with their sketch, they must recreate their preferred composition, planning for size and details. They consider balance, shape, types of lines, and even the amount and placement of materials.

This is something that I like to teach my students: art is everywhere! I am always looking for ways to include other subjects in my art lessons and build connections to real-life experiences. Therefore, I would like to provide students with this Math Geometry Kit Set that includes rulers, a protractor, and a compass. These tools can help students achieve their goals in creating a pattern or balanced artwork, as well as making connections with architecture or visual design. With this project, my goal is to show students that we can use what we learn in math to create art, and vice versa. I can't wait to see what we create with these tools!
