This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach in a large school with approximately 700 students who all qualify to receive free breakfast and lunch. This coming school year, I will be looping with my 24 dual language students to 3rd grade. My students come from families with limited resources but have a vast desire for their children to succeed. Parents often work two and three jobs to make ends meet. When I talk to them, I see the hope they have for their children to have a better life.
Covid-19 disrupted the last part of our school year.
It was a challenge at the beginning of this journey, with students having limited access to devices and internet access. Despite the bumpy ride at the beginning, we made distance learning work!
We will be starting the new school year with distance learning and I will be teaching from home. I will need many resources to be able to help all of my students reach their potential!
My Project
Having an iPad pencil to use with an iPad with enhance my teaching during distance learning. The pencil will allow me to draw and write directly on the iPad. I will also be able to use it to hightlight and annotate text during reading class. The wipes will allow us to keep our monitors clean.
My dual language students will benefit from the iPad pencil because I will be able to draw visuals and pictorials that will help them better understand the academic content.
The pencil will allow me to write legibly while writing and modeling math word problems. I have had a difficult time with using the writing tools on different school apps. My lines are always crooked and my students have a hard time understanding what I wrote. Once we return to the classroom, I will connect the iPad pencil and my iPad to the Smartboard so I can be able to teach from anywhere in the classroom.
