Embracing Others and Ourself

Help me give my students tools that will help them foster acceptance and understanding of others. Toys such as culturally diverse baby dolls, puppets, and block people with a variety of abilities will allow us to celebrate diversity!

My Students

My students are some of the youngest learners: Kindergartners! They have a thirst for knowledge, a passion for creativity, and are ready to learn, grow, and explore the world around them. Your donation has the potential to impact their view of schooling and their ability to define themselves as learners as the requested supplies will allow them to have the needed tools to become active members of their learning environment. Further, the supplies I have asked for will help develop skills for future success.

My Project

It is crucial for every student in my classroom to see people who look like them and reflect their culture.

By embracing others’ cultures, genders, race, and abilities, we foster acceptance and help students develop empathy, an open mind, and love for one another.

I have intentionally selected toys that showcase a wide range of cultures and abilities such as the multicultural family puzzle sets, the Duplo world people set, and the multi-ethnic puppets.

In kindergarten, it is my hope to teach students to celebrate the differences in each other because that’s what makes every person amazing and unique! If we do not expose our students to things that are different than them how are they supposed to understand, respect, and accept others?
