it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students

Students in my class come from a variety of backgrounds. We come to class to embark on the challenging journey of improvement. We strive to improve our knowledge, thirst for learning, and character.
Our school is a large Title I school with a high minority population.
Our students come from a variety of cultures and home situations. Each student has a unique perspective of the outside world. Given these differences, we come together to find commonalities and foster essential life skills that will improve the lives of our students. Our highly qualified teachers and staff strive for excellence and work tirelessly to provide quality instruction and learning experiences for each student.
My Project
My students need 32 copies of the R.J Palacio's Wonder to improve literacy skills by participating in a Novel Study Unit. These materials will enable my students to effectively participate in an in-depth literature study unit that is aligned with common core standards. Rather than reading excerpts of novels, or other short passages from a basal text, students will accomplish reading an entire novel, a feat many have found to be out of reach. Students will practice utilizing strategies for comprehension and vocabulary acquisition in the context of a novel, rather than detached basal lessons and worksheets.
Donations to this project will enhance the lives of my students by introducing them to a well-written novel that explores the importance of kindness.
There are some books that forever influence a person's life. I hope this will be one of those books for my students and that reading this novel will forever change their outlook toward their fellow humans. From this book, I hope that they will remember to always choose kindness.
