My students need an Elmo projector for use during whole group and small group lessons.
This project expired on January 14, 2011.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Have you ever been in a classroom that is missing a key piece of furniture or equipment? I have! Due to financial restraints, my kindergarten classroom is missing a very basic piece of equipment found in most classrooms...an Elmo projector!
My students are kindergarten-aged children.
For most, kindergarten is their first introduction into formal learning, as most do not attend pre-kindergarten.
They attend a public elementary school of nearly 1,200 students in Southeast Louisiana! Most come from a low-socioeconomic home and live with a single parent or grandparent.
Children are inundated with "technology" everyday, whether they can afford it or not. Rarely do these advances in technology make their way down to our kindergarten classroom! I would love to be able to read them a book while all of the students are looking at the words and pictures with me. They would love to be able to share their writing with their friends! I would love to be able to use classroom manipulatives in a way that all of my students can view them at the same time. The Elmo would be a great addition to my small group time. It would allow the children to show other children what they have learned, which in turn may allow someone who didn't understand to learn it from a "child's" perspective.
They are very sweet and loving and they all absolutely love learning!
I try my best each year to make sure my children are exposed to as many learning opportunities as possible. I am hoping that with an Elmo projector, I will be able to this in yet another way.
