Elmo Projector Provides Overview of Mathematical Situations for Young Mathematicians!
My students need an Elmo MO-1 Visual Presenter to help them clearly view math problems they will be tasked to solve algebraically as a whole class and in small groups.
I expect my students to be eager to learn math conceptually this upcoming school year!
Being a first year appointed teacher with my own classroom, and who is starting a second career in education, I know my new students are a culturally diverse group of boys and girls who will have the benefit of learning how to think algebraically as my school district has rolled out a new initiative entitled Algebra 4 All.
Algebra 4 All will help my students think about math conceptually and algebraically, so they can gain the foundation needed to excel in fifth grade math and in the algebra courses they will take in middle school. In addition, Algebra 4 All will help students learn to use math to solve real-life problems which is a key to success in life.
My Project
My classroom is not equipped with a technological device that will consistently allow me to show or demonstrate math problems to my students all at once. Whenever I am teaching a new mathematical concept, I need to ensure I am teaching and reaching my entire student population, so they could adequately and effectively engage in learning and solving math problems altogether. Having an Elmo projector in my classroom will help me to accomplish this goal. The Elmo will enable my students to view math concepts and/or problems that I am teaching, and then work collectively and collaboratively to solve them algebraically. In addition, students will be able show their thinking or work on the Elmo, so they and their peers can learn from and grow together mathematically.
