This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My Science and English Language Development classes consist of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students with varying learning abilities and needs. Their abilities and needs extend from English Learners, special education, general education and magnet students.
My magnet science students, who are part of the Visual and Performance Arts Magnet have shown great enthusiasm in integrating the arts into their science class.
My English Learners never give up and are always willing to do their best. All of my students are up for trying new things and they are well versed in current technology. The right technology in my classroom can enhance their learning experience by keeping them engaged.
My Project
I currently use technology in my classroom such as videos or visuals on my computer to enrich my students' learning. When my students write or take notes, I model on a document reader. During my lessons, I switch back and forth from the document reader to my computer. The current document reader that my school has provided for my class, requires me to turn it off so that I can switch the feed to my computer when my students are to watch a video. I lose valuable instructional time and my students can get distracted each time I do this because I have to turn one piece of technology off to use the other. In addition to that, my current document reader freezes and glitches in the middle of my lessons causing me to turn it off and on to make it reset.
The ELMO document camera that this project would provide would allow me to click a button which would switch from document reader to computer in seconds, saving me instructional time and keeping my students focused and engaged.
My students deserve the best learning experience I can provide them, and the ELMO document camera would enable me to be more efficient and effective in my lessons.
