My Students

My students are my inspiration! This year, my second grade English Language Learners (ELL) represent 11 countries, multiple cultures and languages. They come to school each and every day ready to conquer the Massachusetts curriculum standards while learning and acquiring the English language. Most of my families have endured hardships both financially and emotionally. Many students are refugees from war torn homelands or victims of natural disasters.

My students are humble, inquisitive, and very curious about the world around them!

Their love of learning and enthusiasm to try new things, brings joy and excitement into the classroom.

I am often overwhelmed by my students. Their perseverance and ability to overcome the challenges set before them is remarkable. I am both blessed and honored to guide them through their journey in a safe, respectable environment!

My Project

My students have limited English proficiency. All writing lessons need to be modeled repeatedly. The classroom literacy station will allow me to model, edit and revise writing with my students' assistance.

The ability to have large, clear print on an erasable surface permits students to practice and correct, as we work through a writing piece together.

Modeling and working as a group builds verbal skills and limits misconceptions students may have about assignment expectations.

The literacy center will also be used as a word building, independent work station during our literacy block. Students will work in pairs reading, spelling, and building vocabulary words.
