This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am lucky to get to teach 30 first graders who are eager to learn all they can.

With the current circumstances, it is crucial my students are able to organize and store their own materials.

With 30 little minds at work, using materials throughout the day is crucial for their hands-on learning. During math students will use counters and cubes to help their understanding of basic counting, tens and ones, adding and subtracting. I would like my students to have small containers to store their manipulatives in. They will keep these containers in their seat sacks which will allow students to have quick access to their manipulatives, and will also eliminate students sharing the materials to cut back on the spread of germs. For this same reason, I would like my students to have their own pencil box where they can store their crayons and pencils. I do not want students sharing pencils and crayons, so they need a storage container to put their own supplies in. These containers will be in their seat sack for quick access.

My Project

If each student has their own storage box it will allow them to use and store their materials so that we are not sharing throughout the day. I want my students healthy so they are able to attend school each day. These boxes will help eliminate the spread of germs from student to student. Many parents are fearful to send their students back to school, and not sharing supplies will be one of the many ways I will be able to reassure parents that their students are safe and staying healthy.
