Eliminate Plastic Water Bottle Usage to Help Protect Our Planet

Help me give my students aluminum water bottles to use at school and at home, which they will receive when they join our club.

My Project

My colleague and I are launching a climate action club at our middle school. We are focusing on plastic pollution and the problems associated with “one-use” plastic. The club’s purpose is twofold: to generate student enthusiasm that leads to community activism and to repurpose plastic water bottles in a meaningful way.

First, we aim to put many aluminum water bottles in students' hands to use at school and at home, which they will receive when they join our club.

Then, in the climate action club, students will collaborate with other students to find a way to repurpose already existing plastic bottles. One idea is to create a herb garden and give it to teachers as appreciation gifts.

Second, we hope to extend our activism into the community to promote the end of “one use” plastics and also share the repurposed bottles (potted herbs, for example) to share with other communities.
