Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students that make up our school are all talented individuals with a strong desire to learn. They have many factors that affect their everyday learning. One of those is the limited amount of supplies on hand. Most of our students come unprepared to class, and it is up to the teacher to provide learning materials and a safe learning environment.

More than 88% of our students qualify for free and reduced-priced lunch making our school Title 1.

We have various programs to help our children, for example we have a food program that feeds children after school and on weekends. We also provide after school programs to help students academically. Additionally, we also have a big ELL population. With that said, it is our duty to provide tools that will help every child succeed no matter what their background is.

My Project

ELL students work so trying to learn the material, all the while trying to learn a new language. I want to make learning more fun and exciting than the standard pencil and paper. My students need to be able to visually see the language and material they are learning. With fraction flip charts, these students will be able to compare all the different sizes that are difficult to see with the naked eye. The spinning wheel can be used for various subjects like math and phonics. My students also need to be able to express themselves through art. With the art station my students will be express their creativity without the pressure of meeting a certain standard.

ELL students need to learn through engaging material that is universal to all languages.

By providing these hands on learning material they will be able to learn through different modes. Its my responsibility to make sure these children are receiving all the proper learning tools they need that will help them become the best students they can be.
