My Students
Although our school is a fusion of students from over seven different cities and towns, the sense of community is strong with a spirited belief in academic achievement and success for all students.
While test scores, diplomas, and college/work preparedness is in the spotlight, the students in our program emphasize the importance of belonging to something special, caring for others, and the intrinsic motivation from having a support system.
Simply put, a common description of our band is: A family.
Our students are dedicated, kind, and resilient young people making it possible for us to achieve and exceed our goals as a band.
My Project
Quality over quantity should be the philosophy. When our school opened, it was quantity over quality for music furniture and now we are looking to replace nearly half of our music stands.
We don't ask students in PE to perfect the art of the free throw without a hoop, or Culinary Nutrition to prepare chicken pesto without chicken.
Music stands are the desks in our instrumental classes.
Beyond music stands that can no longer be repaired, we want to pair our keyboard with an amp that produces both quality sound and adequate volume.
