Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a Special Education teacher in Richmond Hill, our amazing students come from every walk of life. Our community is filled with hard-working families that support our school system as best they can with limited resources. Our population is largely military and transient.
I don't think of my students as special needs; I prefer limited edition!
We have a considerable population that includes disabilities ranging from vision impairments, autism, hearing impairments, learning differences, emotional disturbances, and intellectual difficulties, among others.
My Project
My school is constantly looking for ways to enrich STEAM principles/activities and promote higher order thinking for our students. With 3D printing, students will be able to problem solve and design.
The technology will be an incomparable tool for students to conceptualize images/designs from beginning sketches to final product.
Hard to visualize items like artifacts will be replicated on the 3D printer and allow students exploration in a real, tangible way. Students will be able to touch and see-hands on experiences!
Notwithstanding, the 3D printer will offer a myriad of learning experiences that will require students to troubleshoot and work collaboratively to resolve problems. In a very engaging way, the machine will develop the skills of persistence and endurance to overcome issues.
