Help me give my students access to color printed materials with a new printer because I am on a journey to engage my middle school students using exciting materials and colorful infographics, articles and posters in class.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am on a journey to better engage my middle school students in English Language Arts content. I have found in my first year of teaching middle school that the students often have a hard time engaging with printed texts that we use for ELA class. What I have found that helps negate this effect is including color coding within the texts that we read and colorful images included alongside the text to reinforce concepts covered in our reading. This being said, accessing color copies can be difficult and expensive especially as a first year teacher.
With your assistance, my students will have much more frequent access to these supports that have proven to increase engagement with reading printed sources.
Not only will this printer improve engagement in my ELA class, it will allow me to create meaningful posters that demonstrate important concepts from 7th grade English Language Arts standards. This will help my students better master content as they will have colorful reminders of their learning posted around the classroom. Thank you from me and my students for your help with this project.
