My students need weather and climate, and force + motion kits to go along with the new STEM initiative, as well as our school's new dedicated approach to an inquiry-based learning program.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Remember when our children always asked "why" and our response to the over asked question was "because"? Well we want them to once again ask "why," only now we want them to learn how to find the answers as they learn the "why" and work cooperatively with peers as they enjoy inquiry process.
The students who would benefit from these materials are students in grades 3-5 as we welcome in the new science standards.
The school is a Title I school where many students come from families who are hard working but still find themselves in the lower socio-economic class. Many students come from families where English is not their first language.
With STEM Science kits such as these ("weather and climate" and "force + motion"), our students will increase their vocabulary, provide provocations for science inquiry, and provide the opportunity for cooperative work among classmates.
My Project
Imagine walking into an intermediate classroom (grades 3-5) and seeing students actively engage in cooperative group work. There is communication between the group members, questioning, sharing, and learning. The excitement on the students' faces is so telling. You walk around the room and you can not tell that there are students with learning disabilities working alongside peers without. The teacher is working with one group while other groups are working independently. Thanks to the STEM science materials received, this classroom is humming as the learning is taking place thanks to your donations!
Your donations to this project will build on the natural curiosity of children as learners.
It will provide teachers with the resources and materials needed to expand this curiosity as we welcome STEM. It will provide a solid basis for teachers to " jump start" or provide the provocations for these inquiry-based lessons. It will also provide students self-confidence, risk-taking skills, and the ability to increase their communication skills as they work with peers.
