This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Imagine getting excited about going to your favorite park to play tennis, but all of the courts are missing nets. Or heading to the volleyball courts to find there is not only no net, but no volleyballs! You get discouraged so head to the bowling alley, but find out there are no bowling balls!

In the deeply urban areas San Francisco, it is already a challenge for my students to access any sports in the overly crowded public parks.

They either lack the resources, time, or space to access sports that they are interested in. My students always ask if we can try these sports in PE and I try to make due with the limited supplies that we have, but I know that my students deserve better.

Your donation will go towards nets, volleyballs, and bowling balls that will be immediately implemented in my PE lessons. Students will get to practice these sports the way they were meant to be played during the corresponding units and continue to revisit them throughout my station practice during the year. As students advance to the next grade, they will get to continue to use the equipment to improve their skills each year. I want my students to be inspired when they try something new and feel successful at it. I hope every student will build their confidence in these sports and be inspired to build them into their lifelong journey of fitness and health!
