My students are the Computer Science students of today, but the tech gurus of tomorrow. Both the girls and boys in our class are EXTREMELY motivated to learn about technology, excited to learn how it works, and eager to apply it to their lives, both now and in the future.
"OH MY GOODNESS.... I GET IT!" is a phrase I hear on a daily basis.
The discovery of what the technical world is and how it works, is mind-blowing for me and for many of our students... and it's addicting.
To lead innovation and solve the problems of tomorrow, we need to create the next generations of inventors, critical thinkers , collaborative creators and lifelong learners. And, instead of preparing for specific careers, we focus on making sure our extremely creative students are future ready by trying to combine hands-on inventing with the rigor of learning objectives.
My Project
The littlebits Code Kit is a powerful and engaging introduction into computer science for our classroom. Students can build their own games and programmable devices with the electronic building blocks, start writing code with drag and drop block-based programming software (also program in arduino), upload it to their machine, and start playing with their real-world inventions.
Students will learn how circuits work, the difference between an input and output, and how to wire it all together to make their machine work.
Problem solving, time management, critical thinking and communication are just a few of the marketable skills our students will learn by using these products.
