This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year, I have the privilege of working as a school counselor. My students just came back from a long hiatus due to Covid. Most of them are excited to spend time with their friends. Quite a few of them are nervous and anxious about being back to a school environment, especially the 6th graders that are just starting middle school. My students care about their school environment, community, and each other.

Socio-emotional learning is at the forefront of this school year.

My students can all benefit from a lot of emotional and financial support. As a counselor working in a Title I school, the need for additional resources to benefit the emotional well-being of the community is a priority.

My Project

Help me give my students the ability to have the items we need to continue to successfully learn. After two difficult years due to the pandemic, I feel my students need socio-emotional support more than ever. The chargers are going to be used for our current Chromebooks. Unfortunately, over time, one charger went missing and the other no longer will charge a Chromebook, so we are in need of two replacements.

"When students feel safe and supported, they are truly ready and able to learn" by Laura Weaver and Mark Wilding.

My students and I just received a new printer. We will need ink so that we can continue to print without running out. These items will truly enhance the health and wellness of my students. Knowing that they have a place to come and print their school work will be a stress relief for most of my students who do not have a printer available at home.
