This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am making a list of the items I would need to purchase on my own so that everyone knows where their great donation will go. These items help me and the students be more productive.
We need a color printer.
We are only supplied with black ink printers and ink, and these took 4 months to replace the last time. I am buying toner to supplement what the district does not provide, and I have already purchased 2 cartridges since the beginning of the school year. A color printer would benefit my students because not only can I print on the spot, but I can print in color. I can print their digital projects and any reference material to display. I normally print the majority at home, paying for it myself. But when a student needs something printed right away, that does not help. If I had a color printer in the classroom, I could print on the spot for the students.
We need extension cords because we have limited outlets for students to charge their Chromebooks at their desks.
We also need a wireless keyboard and mouse. The wired keyboard and mouse on my desktop does not have enough length to be used efficiently. I will be able to connect the wireless one to my Promethean or my laptop and use it around the classroom.
With a charging station, students can put their phones in a safe space to charge.
A phone storage system will provide a transition space for students. LAUSD is implementing a cell phone ban on campus. In the transition period, this is my idea on how to get students used to being without their phones for some time. They also can produce better quality work when their phones are away from them.
