This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are honors physics students in a very disadvantaged county. Our school focuses on career and college readiness and my students work very hard. My students are pulled from all over the county to attend our school. They choose to be here and because of that, really value the time they spend at this school.
These kids are very motivated and have an excellent work ethic.
Most of them come from lower socioeconomic situations and have been given a huge opportunity in this school. We currently are the only school in our district with a one hundred percent graduation rate!
My Project
The new Georgia Standards of Excellence for physics are putting a greater emphasis on electricity during the students' physics education. The materials in this project are basic electricity supplies like wires, bulbs, batteries and battery holders so the students may build their own circuits.
I believe the best way to learn is through hands-on experimentation.
This project puts supplies directly into the students' hands. Students will use these things to learn about and build model circuits instead of just drawing them like we have done in the past. This will be an excellent addition to our lab focused class.
