My Students
I am currently teaching 6th grade Math at Booker T. Washington Middle School in Newport News, Virginia. My students have a love for learning and enjoy doing hands on activities and thrive when completing a daunting task. I have enjoyed teaching at Booker T. Washington as I have experienced many upper level learners. My goal for the upcoming year is to find more ways to challenge my higher learners.
All 75 of my students will benefit greatly from the Circuit Builder.
I continue to try and encourage problem solving in the classroom. I feel this will give my kids the hands on problem solving experience they need. This will also help encourage them to follow directions and work together as a team cooperatively. There are so many positive benefits from the skill builder.
My Project
As an educator I want to foster problem solving in my classroom. I work on real-life word problems and I feel that the Circuit Builder will help reinforce this on a more independent level.
Incorporating the Circuit Builder in a center to help foster problem solving, team work, cooperation, science, creativity, and fun will ensure that students are engaged during independent time.
Science and math are two subjects that I have a deep passion for. The Circuit Maker uses electronic blocks that snap onto clear plastic grids to build different circuits. This will help the students better understand open and closed circuits as well as the many other components of electricity. All the while it will also help build problem solving skills in math. Who knows, I may even bring out the engineer in some on my students. So many possibilities.
