Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have a diverse population with almost entirely minority students in attendance, including many English Learners, and several barely speaking any English. We have great staff members who love the kids and support them in all aspects of their educations. Safety is our number one priority in my school.
We hope to provide a well-rounded music education where music class is “cool,” and kids look forward to coming to class.
We are finding ourselves in need of some supplies to help maintain our growing music program.
My Project
Our new Orchestra program is thriving in the inner city! We want to explore some modern music techniques and potentially do some work in our school site Makerspace with an electric violin. At some point, we would love to have students play solos with this new instrument and play around with loop and effect pedals too. My students recently saw Black Violin perform and Stanford and they have been incredibly excited about music ever since. I work hard to make sure my instruction is culturally relevant and exciting for my students. This new instrument would surely help keep my students engaged in music!
