My students need electric guitars and amps to spur their interest in learning music.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Nothing lights up the mind like music! My guitar students have been making great progress learning basic chords and songs on small acoustic guitars. As 12 and 13-year-olds, they're eager to get their hands on electric guitars to begin learning and playing the songs that captivate them. Thanks!

Approximately 85 percent of my students are classified as low-income.

They lack resources, but they have no lack of intelligence, determination or enthusiasm for learning. Opportunities for instrumental music lessons in this neighborhood are slim, but through school, we're able to offer both choir and guitar. I believe that music education is transformational. Your gift of electric guitars and amps will help create engaging electives that support the core curriculum at our school. Thanks!

My Project

Having already learned basic chords and strumming patterns on small acoustic guitars, my students (and students for years to come) will use these electric guitars and amps to learn, practice and perform the songs they love. Ultimately, I hope the school will own 10 or more guitars and amps for a class of 20 to share.

This will give them a reason to get up and come to school every day with excitement.

Not only will they explore blues, rock, jazz, funk and country--they'll learn to take ownership of their education, a feeling that can be leveraged across the curriculum.
