Eggs to Chicks in the Classroom!

Help me give my students the experience of watch chick hatch and grow in the classroom with an incubator and a table to watch them grow from down to feathers.

My Project

Each grade level has life science standards. Students build on the skills they learned the prior year. For many years, I have expanded students' learning by hatching baby chicks in our classroom. This requires an incubator, and I was unable to borrow on this year so my students missed out on this experience

Watching eggs go from the incubator to baby chicks is an awesome educational experience enjoyed by people of all ages.

Our younger grades love to stop by and witness the chicks growing in the eggs. We candle the eggs to show students the life changing inside the egg. My kindergartners love watching them come out of their shells. Our upper grade students enjoy dropping by to witness the process.

Our goals are to incubate and hatch 24 fertilized eggs, use photography to witness and share the chicks hatching, and provide a safe habitat for the chicks to be enjoyed by our school community for 3 weeks. This project helps my students while they get to enjoy a fantastic learning experience.
